THE RESULTS OF THE 2023 CHASE ARE AVAILABLE HERE. IMAGES VIDEO AND REPORTS TO FOLLOW

The event took place on 10th June on one of the hottest days of the year and was again successful although with only a small number of participants.

Eleven participants took part in the Callow Chase ranging in age from 14 to 70. The event was won by Liam Bennett who completed the course in an amazing time of 28:53, beating last year’s course record. As winner he was presented with the Richard Bayliss shield. Liam also won the award for the fastest participant under 16. The fastest woman was Anna Bayliss and the winner of the over 60’s was Peter Johnson (who is actually just over 70). The full results for the Chase can be found on the event website at: https://callowrun.uk/results

Due to the hot weather, a few of the entrants withdrew from the Pootle. The winning family of Su, Ben and Emma completed in an hour together with (I’m sorry we can’t remember the name of the most important participant), collecting their trophy and bag of doggie goodies.

We also had four entrants in the Crawl who enjoyed a scenic if very hot walk.

Special thanks are due to the marshals who ensured that the event could take place safely – Steve, Alastair, Sarah, David, Barry and Charles on the junctions and Callow and Deb who acted as the “sweeper” to ensure that the course was safe. Thanks also to Debbie and Janet for providing refreshments at Hemford and support at the Village Hall. Other thanks to Heather for allowing parking in the field, Molly for assisting with the prize giving and Susan for helping with all the organisation.

Finally special thanks to Stapeley Vets for sponsoring the event for the second year and to the Village Hall committee for all their support and for use of the hall.

I am hoping to add a gallery of images and video from the day to the website during July and August.
